Metro’s Ron Jeremy Becomes PETA Spokesperson:
Strange Bedfellows: PETA Teams Up With Ron Jeremy to Promote Spaying and Neutering.
(Los Angeles, CA)- Metro’s contract star Ron Jeremy has just become the newest spokesperson for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). He will appear in a national ad campaign titled “Too Much Sex Can Be A Bad Thing” promoting the spaying and neutering of animals.
Jeremy was photographed nude in a bed while holding a 9 ½ inch ruler by celebrity photographer Robert Sebree at his studio in Los Angeles and joins past spokespersons Carrie Otis, Traci Bingham, Elizabeth Berkley, and Anna Nicole Smith in bringing awareness to the public in regards to the growing problem of the rapid animal population growth.
Kristen Herman, the Special Projects Coordinator for PETA, thinks using the world’s most recognizable male porn star was a stroke of ironic genius.
“ When we came up with the tag line ‘Too Much Sex Can Be a Bad Thing’ Ron was the first person who came to all of our minds, even if I was the only one to admit it!” Herman confesses, adding that despite what some may think, “ Ron is a big softie.”
In a Q&A session with the press, photographer Sebree was asked if he had ever shot an adult film star before and answered, “Yes actually I have, Serenity was my first adult film star. I shot her in a glass box for another PETA campaign.”
Ron brought along his tortoise Cherry and she is now being reviewed for possible submission in PETA’s upcoming calendar.
“ He is so eager to bring attention to the animal population crisis,” offers Herman. “ An estimated 5 million unwanted dogs and cats are euthanized in America's animal shelters every year. How sad is that? And all this suffering could so easily be avoided, if everyone would just spay and neuter.”
Ron Jeremy for his part was thrilled to be asked.
“ It’s a necessary organization,” claims Ron. “ People complain about the pound killing the animals that aren’t claimed but yet do nothing to spay or neuter their animals.”
When asked about a possible relationship with other stars who have worked with PETA, he spoke kindly of two of his celebrity friends who have both appeared in ads on behalf of the organization.
“ I love following in the footsteps of Pamela Anderson and my friend Tracy Bingham,” quips the jovial porn star.
Bingham appeared on the Surreal Life 2 on WB with Jeremy where they became close friends.
“ The episode we did with the Jacuzzi scene was the highest rated show of any Surreal Life to date.”
Ron Jeremy flew in from Florida where he was working on a mainstream movie and while there was introduced to former presidential candidate John Kerry and spoke with him about the adult industry support that followed him in his run for president.
“ I can’t say a lot about what Kerry and I discussed, but it was all good,” claims Ron. “ I told him that the adult entertainment community was largely supporting him.”
